merlin-shadow-coverThe final book review of 2013 for CSFF (Christian Science-Fiction & Fantasy) tour is upon us. This time it’s Merlin’s Shadow, the second of the Merlin Spiral Trilogy by Robert Treskillard. Check out my fellow reviewers’ blogs (listed below) for their reviews. In conjunction with the CSFF Blog Tour, I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

This book continues the story of a young Merlin who is at the early stages of his training and fulfillment of his destiny to protect the heir-apparent Arthur. His world has been turned upside down and sideways. He’s fleeing for his life and must overcome some seemingly impossible odds. Fortunately for him, he’s accompanied by some valiant characters but it’s not going to be an easy road.

I’m glad the author included highlights from the previous book so we could catch up. If he had not then the pace of this story would soon overtake any casual reader who hadn’t read the first book. This is a trilogy and like most trilogies the author must save some of the good stuff for the final book, but don’t worry this book includes enough mystery, adventure, loss and victory to keep the pages turning. I also loved the cover art and I judged it well.
